Product Description
This volume brings together leading neuropsychologists to shed light on the nuts and bolts of forensic practice. An array of adult and child cases are presented, involving such conditions as traumatic brain injury, multiple chemical sensitivity, cerebral anoxia, and electrical injury. Contributors show how they go about reviewing reports and depositions in a particular case, providing fine-grained analysis of the opinions and conclusions of the examiner. Issues addressed in detail include the selection of tests, appropriate use of normative samples, and errors in scoring and interpretation. Unique in providing multiple perspectives on each case, the book identifies common clinical and professional pitfalls and how to avoid them.

| Customer Reviews:
basic September 3, 2008 i am a practicing psychologist and neuropsychologist who frequently consults on legal issues, and bought this to some extent on recommendation by peers. i have not read all of it yet, in part because i found most of the 50% that i have read pitched at a rather elementary level that did not advance my understanding. that probably needs some clarification: i do not think it is especially helpful for the individual who is already reasonably well-versed in these matters. the material seems generally accurate, but my feeling is that, once one has a grounding in the fundamentals of neuropsychology and law, one probably does not need this, and there are probably better ways to get the fundamentals - presented systematically, rather than by inferring them from this type of case-by-case analysis. a second edition which uses the case studies as illustrations of a set of principles laid out systematically would make it much more useful. james h waters phd boulder colorado
