Worth it June 26, 2008 There is no silver bullet to prepare for the NBME in any subject. I recommend you read this book after reading some sort of review book, then do questions. Even after reading 6 books on obgyn I still had no idea on a few of the NBME questions, but scored above 90.
Great Cases! February 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book made studying a little less painful. Reading straight text just gets boring and I lose my motivation but I actually liked reading these cases and the answers are really good. This is a great book for ob rotation!
An easy, quick read, great review. January 8, 2008 This review book is ideal in that it is easy to read, you can do so fairly quickly. The book is also essentially a comprehensive review of those topics relevant to the OB/Gyn Shelf Exam. I used it as my sole review source and felt generally prepared for the exam.
Not Even Worth a Glance! January 6, 2008 Despite the many 5 star reviews for this text, I can without hesitation give it my worst possible rating! This book is childish and simplistic. The questions are dumbed down and will give you very little practice for the USMLE or NBME. Trust me here - stick to NMS or Hacker and Moore and Pre-Test! I'm just finishing off my Obs/Gyne rotation and felt the week I spent on this book was a waste (not to mention my $30!).
Wonderful for Ob/Gyn shelf December 23, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This was the single best resource I used to prepare for the Ob/Gyn shelf. I only wish that I'd started using it sooner. The chapters are short --- there's a clinical vignette on the first page, followed by some "what would you do next" questions and 3-5 pages of explanation for those questions. At the end of each case is a handful of multiple choice questions. I'd recommend doing 3 or 4 cases each night (it shouldn't take more than an hour) after reading a chapter from a main text like BluePrints. The combination of BluePrints plus Case Files worked very well for me. Good luck!
