Product Description Spanish for Veterinarians 2e is designed to help you rapidly learn working Spanish for clinical conversations. The presentation of the language is not traditional-explanations are written for veterinarians, not grammarians, so you won't find conditional verbs or terms such as "pluperfect." Here's what you will find: * A pronunciation guide and explanations of how to conjugate verbs. * Basic conversations concerning veterinary medicine. * Ample vocabulary lists for animals, body parts, and diseases. * Cultural discussions on the role of animals in Hispanic American and on how to handle introductions and small talk. * Vocabulary for obtaining information for the clinical history and the diagnostic exam. * Chapters on specific animals, including a new chapter on exotics. * Vocabulary for check-in forms. * An English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English dictionary of practical veterinary terms alphabetized together. This new edition is a lively presentation of the Spanish that working vets increasingly need to know.

if you already know spanish, don't bother April 2, 2003 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
I was fluent in Spanish many years ago, but have lost it with disuse. I was looking for a book that would give me relevant vocabulary in an easy to read format. This book spends several chapters talking about different verbs and how to conjugate them, as well as how to pronounce things. there is minimal vocabulary, and minimal basic pet care conversational information.
Good introduction book March 8, 2000 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
This book is aimed at large animal veterinarians who have Spanish-speaking clientele. There is a chapter at the end for dogs & cats, and admittedly there is a lot of content that could apply to both large & small animals.
