Product Description
Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book!

5 out of 5 stars The Hack is a treasure   October 11, 2008
This is a glorious story. It completely captivated me. This book comes the closest that I have ever read or heard to explaining the holy trinity.

In the story a man experiences the loss of a child and at the same time loses his faith in God. Well, God using his grace presents himself or herself in a unpredictable form. The man is put with the Holy Spirit as well as Jesus. The book changed my ideas about Jesus and God. They became so much more real...so much more attainable. I would recommend this to anyone struggling with their faith in God.

5 out of 5 stars WOW   October 11, 2008
My parents recommended the Shack to me after they were given it to read by their church sunday school class. I have since bought copies and given it to everyone in my bible study group. This book will lift you up and wring you dry at the same time. The Shack is well worth the read and you will want to pass it along like I did.

A friend gave me this book to read. I finished it in 4 days. I am truly transformed. It is amazing how this book can take your mind out of the every day perceptions of reality and show you a totally different point of view. I would recommend this book to everyone! There is something for everyone in every aspect of their walk with the Lord.

5 out of 5 stars One of the Best Books I've Ever Read!   October 10, 2008

What an incredibl;e work! There are many who read it and criticize it for its theology (actually, what they grump about is the fact that it doesn't necessarily AGREE with their own personal theology) but the fact is that this marvelous little book brings readers into a closer personal relationship with God.

Many there are who prefer a God who prefers fear to love, a God who judges and swats you with a club for every tiny transgression. This book presents a God who is more interested in developing a close, personal relationship with His creations, and in teaching them about the their place in His kingdom and, most importantly, His heart.

I know of many, many people who turned their backs on God for one reason or another and who, as the result of reading this book, have come back to embrace Him!

I've been recommending this book to everyone and I'll continue to do so.

I was very surprised at how much this book clarified many of my doubts and help me heal old wounds. God's love is such an incredible thing.
