5 out of 5 stars The best cultural experience...   March 19, 1999

I'm a history buff, and this book is one of my favorites. This is a wonderful opportunity to educate both deaf and hearing individuals about individuals who are deaf. For too long, deaf movers and shakers have disregarded. Even if they were given recognition, there'd be only one line saying: "..and he is hearing impaired." There is more to these individuals. With this book, I am able to visualize the experience of Beethoven, and chuckle at the situation imposed on Deaf Smith. The book captures the human nature of renowned deaf individuals.

The writing style's appealing, and I certainly think more history writers use this book as an example of quality material...
