Sassy is a long-legged girl who always has something to say. She wants to be a ballerina more than anything, but she worries that her too-large feet, too-long legs, and even her big mouth will keep her from her dream. When a famous director comes to visit her class, Sassy does her best to get his attention with her high jumps and bright leotard.  Lovely book August 17, 2008
Arrived quickly. Excellent book for young dancers, especially good for classroom library. Also meets the need include more African American literature which is often left out.

I got this item for my daughter, whose is an aspiring dancer and she loved it!!! I love the fact that the shipment came quickly and the book was captivating...

When I ordered the book I didn't realize I ordered a paperback. For the price I paid the quality wasn't the greatest. The illustrations were nice and the story was cute but again I wasn't thrilled with the quality. Oh well.
Wonderful story and illustrator November 19, 2007
As an African American mom, I'm always looking for books that my children will be able to identify with. Debbie Allen did a wonderful job with this story about a little girl who wants to be a ballet dancer, but is discouraged because of her height. Kadir Nelson is my absolute favorite children's author.

Received this book yesterday and it is just incredible. Story and illustrations are beyond beautiful! Would give it a 100 stars if I could.
