Product Description Book #4 in the Ballet Friends series. Jessie Garretts come a long way in ballet, only to come to a screeching halt. Just three weeks before her big stage debut in her schools recital of Swan Lake, Jessie and her ballet friends hang up their toe shoes when they find out their dance studio has suddenly closed after a fire in the building. They turn to their teacher, who doesnt have a new studio for them to rehearse in. Its all up to the girls to figure out where to hold class, or else there wont be a recital. To make matters worse, Jessies apartment building is condemned, and Jessie is left without a home or ballet class, which has become her home away from home. Just when she thinks theres nowhere to turn, Bianca steps in and fixes both problems by pledging to find a new studio, and opening her home to Jessie. But can Bianca build a new studio in time for the recital, and how does down-to-earth Jessie fit in living in Biancas ritzy mansion? Reading level: ages 9 to 12

A good influence September 19, 2008 I bought this Ballet Friends book for my daughter to get her more into ballet, and it did way more than I could've hoped. After my daughter (age 12) read this book, she began to appreciate everything more. She told me how much she liked reading about Jessie, and how she felt sorry for her for losing her home. She said she didn't realize that could happen to a regular kid, and she didn't know any kids her age that didn't live in a house. Then we had a really good conversation about this book, and she told me how she admired Jessie for being brave, and also her best friend Bianca for being generous and sharing her house with Jessie. She also told me all about how their ballet studio got shut down, and how the girls worked together to build a new one. Next thing I knew, she told me how lucky she was to have her ballet studio, and I knew that my daughter's attitude was totally turned around. This coming from a child who used to complain about going to ballet and would've rather stayed home texting her friends, and now she's completely improved and WANTS to go to ballet. I know it has a lot to do with this book. Her attitude has majorly improved and she even helps out around the house more! Sometimes we just have to be reminded of how good we really have it.
My daughter can relate August 24, 2008 My youngest daughter Caitlyn loves this book. She was inspired to practice ballet at home and set up a mini studio with a portable barre, thanks to this book #4 Nowhere to Turn. Our local dance studio closed recently, so my daughter could really relate to this book as she was going through the same thing as the characters. Right now we're looking for another dance teacher, but in the meantime she's happy practicing at home and reading Ballet Friends. What I like about this book is the positive message about persevering through tough times and staying loyal to your friends, and never giving up on your dreams. Ballet Friends has been wonderful for my daughter because the characters are girls just like her, and they love ballet as much as she does.
