Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Excellent ballet series   September 21, 2008
For the longest time, I've been searching for dance books for my daughter. Nothing too serious like a technical dictionary, just something for fun. Ballet Friends was exactly what I was looking for. My daughter loves reading funny books, and she also takes ballet. In the past, I could never find her a funny ballet book. Funny and ballet just didn't seem to go together. I don't know how it happened, but this book has it all! It's very funny, and all about an interesting group of 12-year-old girls who take ballet and have a lot of fun together. This book 5 is centered around the big ballet recital at Madame Schumann's dance school. When my daughter read parts of it to me, I chuckled along with her and we ended up reading the books together starting from #1. Books 1-4 are equally good and often made us burst out laughing.

If your daughter takes dance, you should really consider this series for her. My daughter is 10 and she loves it, but I also think it's very appropriate for 11 and 12-year-olds, and even 9-year-olds who are good readers. Again, I highly recommend this book, and am very happy to find such a terrific ballet series that seems tailor-made for my little aspiring ballerina.

5 out of 5 stars A Great Ballet Book   September 5, 2008
This is a wonderful book for young ballerinas, and my eleven-year-old just loved it. She said her favorite parts were the girls rushing to rehearse for the big night, and the actual recital which was fully described and "just like being there." She learned a lot of ballet terms, as well as the story of the beautiful ballet Swan Lake. I'm so proud of her for reading all five Ballet Friends books this summer, and I'll be looking for number six to add to her collection. I hope the series comes out with many more wonderful books.
