Product Description In Just One More Thing Falk takes us on an acting journey that begins not in Hollywood but in Hartford, where he worked as a management analyst for the Connecticut State Budget Bureau. His time there was no more successful than an earlier attempt to find work with the Central Intelligence Agency. At loose ends, Falk turned to an old college interest: acting. He came to prominence as an actor in 1956 in the highly successful Off-Broadway revival of The Iceman Cometh with Jason Robards. Although he worked continuously for the next three years, bouncing from one Off-Broadway theater to the next, a theatrical agent advised him not to expect much work in motion pictures because of his glass eye. Surgeons had removed his right eye, along with a malignant tumor, when he was three years old.But in 1958, the actor made the jump to Hollywood, where he landed his first movie, Murder Incorporated, and was nominated for an Oscar. Falk became a favorite among moviegoers, yet it was through television that he reached his widest audience as Lt. Columbo, winning four Emmys for the role. Just One More Thing is pure Peter Falk, reading as if he's sitting next to you, chuckling as he recalls a remarkable past.

MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE... September 20, 2008 My wife and I had the fortuitous experience of meeting Peter Falk when he was doing a local book signing in Los Angeles promoting "Just One More Thing." We don't make a habit of standing in lines for just anybody-- the grocery stores are bad enough in LA. But we made the exception for the legendary Peter Falk. I'm a big fan of Columbo and got my wife hooked on the series. As you can imagine, Peter is as funny in person as we know him in his role as Columbo-- and generous- while we were waiting to get our book signed, we got stuck behind an unctuous eBayer, that did not buy a book, but had Mr. Falk autograph roughly 20 photos ( Gee, I wonder where those wound up). But Peter Falk was gracious and joked and signed the 20 photos. Peter Falk had a line of fans stretched all the way down Sunset Blvd.-- in fact, I made the wisecrack to Peter that "my wife and I flew back and forth to San Francisco and you're still signing books..." He liked that. You just had to know this book would be engaging and entertaining. You'll also be amazed at Mr. falk's other talent: art. He could've had another career. However, We are lucky to know him as Columbo.
I highly recommend "Just One More Thing." Just One More Thing
Entertaining anecdotes from a movie stars life May 13, 2008 Peter Falk turns out to have a talent for writing in much the same way he talks.. in wry commentary, with no small amount of wit. He sets out his stall early on - he has no intention of telling you his life story, but instead wants to write a book that you can pick up for 10 minutes before bed, or in the bath, and enjoy a few entertaining stories. Nonetheless, in doing so (and in no particular order), we do learn much about his life, only a little about what he thinks about the important events in his life - just what he enjoyed or found funny in it. The end result leaves you much with the feeling of having sat down and had a chat with the man over a beer, swapping stories of people and places. Subjects covered range from his admiration and friendship with John Cassavetes, his role of Columbo (of course) and some of his leading ladies, to his wife, his early travels and quite a few of his favourite ad libs from other stars. Basically it feels like it is whatever came into his head on the day he sat down at the typewriter. As such, this is a quiet success.. he uses much space on the page with different fonts and sizes of font to break up the text and make his point, so that there actually is very little reading in the book. There are plenty of photos and drawings (we find out he has a passion for sketching and drawing). Entertaining as a light frothy read, although if you want more on his inner thoughts and life story, or an expose of Hollywood, best look elsewhere. As a work of literature this may not rate highly, but for its intended audience (the folk who want that 10 minute read in the bath or before bed), it fits the bill nicely.

This book I finished in one day. It is a collection of stories about a man who made his living playing,"a man with the brain of Sherlock Holmes but dressed like the homeless". A good read well worth the price.
