Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Foundations of Aural Rehabilitation: Children, Adults & Their Families 2E is an excellent introductory textbook that covers assessment, treatment, and counseling techniques for minimizing and alleviating the communication difficulties associated with hearing loss. This text focuses on understanding the patients who are served by audiologists and SLPs, rather than the technology used in aural rehabilitation. The goal is to excite and enthuse users about working in aural rehabilitation while giving them all the basic knowledge to be successful in their work with patients. This must have text is packed with numerous practical suggestions, example programs, training materials, case studies, and class exercises that review state-of-the-art research in a way that motivates practical considerations. Comprehensive and easy-to-read, it includes many tables, figures, and photographs to engage the user and facilitate understanding. New To This Edition More comprehensive coverage of topics while not being unwieldy Many new topics are covered in each chapter, for example, Chapter 15 (Aural (Re)Habilitation Plans for Children) includes an important new section on education law New chapter devoted to counseling and related issues, Chapter 5 (Counseling, Psychosocial Therapy, and Assertiveness Training). To guide comprehension and self-testing, multiple choice questions are included with each chapter, with answers in an appendix Fantastic new case studies demonstrate how procedures may be implemented, enhance the readability of the material, and provide a stimulating springboard for class discussion.

5 out of 5 stars Tye-Murray Resource for all!   August 2, 2007

Easy to read, understand, and apply. It reinforced what was taught by the professor, and will be a wonderful resource for me in the future as a speech therapist. Great strategies!

4 out of 5 stars Good Resource   June 27, 2007

This book worked wonders in reinforcing what the professor taught in class. It helped in understanding many ambiguous concepts of aural rehab. It's definitely an additon to my library.

5 out of 5 stars Even better than the first   September 17, 2004

Tye-Murray has bettered her first effort with this second edition of "Foundations of Aural Rehabilitation: Children, Adults, and Their Family Members." I used the first edition for my introduction to AR class for years, and find this one even more useful. The prose is interesting and clear, the graphics are very useful for teaching purposes. This is a text that I tell my students to hang on to and not re-sale to the bookstore. Once they graduate, they will return to it over and over again.
