Product Description

The three children of Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw, grandchildren of the great leader Firestar, have thrived in their apprenticeships: Lionpaw's strength and energy serve him well as a warrior in training, Hollypaw hones her understanding of the warrior code, and Jaypaw explores his mysterious powers and connection to StarClan as the medicine cat apprentice.

With more experience comes both power and danger: Lionpaw makes a friendship—and a discovery—that must be kept hidden; Jaypaw learns a secret that could benefit ThunderClan by damaging others; and Hollypaw knows something that could avert a battle, if she could convince the rest of her Clan.

The three are torn apart as each discovers darkness: in themselves, in the Clans, and in the past. And, as conflict begins over what it means to be a warrior, rising tensions threaten to overflow, washing away the peace that has existed for many moons.

5 out of 5 stars great!!!!!   November 14, 2008
couldn't wait for this second book in the power of three series. all of these books are great to read.

5 out of 5 stars I love these cats   September 11, 2008
I really love Warriors. I love these books so much I could read them all a second or third time. And this book was just as good as the others. Being the second book in Warriors:Power of Three, it was really good and impossible to put it aside after reading for four hours, just to take a short break from reading. Though it wasn't as good as the first one for Power of Three "the sight", this one is an amazing book you will not be able to put down.

5 out of 5 stars Another action-filled and emotion-packed installment in Erin Hunter's well-loved series.   August 11, 2008
As Lionpaw, Hollypaw and Jaypaw head out for the Gathering, Jaypaw is irritable. His siblings are puzzled, since this is his very first Gathering. Doesn't his urge to do everything the other cats do, in spite of his blindness, cause him to be excited about going to such an important event?

Lionpaw is definitely excited about the Gathering. He cannot wait to see Heatherpaw from the WindClan. But when he does meet up with her, he pretends not to care, disappointing Heatherpaw with his cool attitude. And when he notices how happy she is to see Jaypaw at the Gathering, Lionpaw can't help but feel jealous. Things get even more complicated when the WindClan apprentice, Breezepaw, joins them. He seems a little too familiar with Heatherpaw for Lionpaw's liking.

Lionpaw forgets about Heatherpaw, though, when RiverClan joins the Gathering. Leopardstar and all the members of her Clan do not look happy. Yet, when given the opportunity to share, Leopardstar says all is well. What is going on?

Heatherpaw suggests that she and Lionpaw meet in secret. She needs to discuss a plan she has with him. Hollypaw knows that Lionpaw is going somewhere in the night, but she doesn't know why. She's struggling with her own personal moral dilemma. There are new ShadowClan kits that are related to her. If ShadowClan and ThunderClan fight, will she have to battle her relatives? She knows that the warrior code dictates that she must be loyal to her Clan, but how can she actually hurt cats who share her own blood?

Hollypaw is also worried about Lionpaw, who is sleepy and cross. Her brother is obviously hiding something, but when she goes to Jaypaw with her concerns, he won't even discuss it with her. And although he acknowledges that something is not right with RiverClan, he isn't helpful enough to help her puzzle it out. When he says he thinks he can find out at Moonpool, the gathering of medicine cats at half-moon, Hollypaw feels concerned. Jaypaw, of course, just brushes off her worry.

Hollypaw finds Lionpaw playing with Heatherpaw in the middle of the night. She threatens to tell Brambleclaw unless the meetings stop, since the warrior code states that the cats are not to mix with other Clans. Her hints about his disloyalty infuriate Lionpaw, causing a rift between the siblings.

At Moonpool, Jaypaw has a near-drowning incident. While unconscious, he enters the RiverClan medicine cat Willowpaw's dream. In it, he learns that RiverClan is in trouble and must find a new home or they will perish. When he shares this with Leafpool, she admonishes him for spying on someone else's dreams. She urges him to tell only Firestar. Jaypaw hates keeping secrets, so he is torn about not being able to inform others in his Clan.

Jaypaw isn't the only sibling with secrets. Lionpaw has one of his own, and soon he is lying to his Clan in order to keep it. As the siblings are tried and tested, they find themselves questioning their own loyalties even as they wonder this: If RiverClan is in trouble, aren't they all?

DARK RIVER is another action-filled and emotion-packed installment in Erin Hunter's well-loved series. The many fans of Warriors will embrace it and eagerly look forward to OUTCAST, the third Power of Three book, which will be released in April.

5 out of 5 stars Superb and well done!   June 29, 2008
2 out of 2 found this review helpful

This is the third Warriors series and has completely lived up to my expectations! Warriors is an excellent book to try for children but can also please older children and teenagers as well. Now some people may think that Clans of Warrior cats is a silly idea but it is actually very well done so that you almost believe it's real and the characters become just like people to you...

Lionpaw, Hollypaw and Jaypaw are all apprentices in one of the four clans: Thunderclan. Lionpaw and Hollypaw are both training to be great warriors. But Lionpaw seems to be serious enough about his training to look to an evil cat for the answers and he may become a liar to his clan because of a certain friend he isn't allowed to meet with.
Jaypaw is completely blind and despite the fact that he wanted to become a warrior, is stuck training to be a medicine cat. He's been seeing visions that no other medicine cats can and may be able to walk in other cats dreams.

When a group of Windclan kits go missing, Windclan jumps to conclusions and may start a war with Riverclan just because of it. These three apprentices with the help of some other brave cats must find the kits before battles break out and cats die for no good reason...

Please read this book and maybe even all of the series. They are really quite excellent and many would enjoy them!

5 out of 5 stars Daughter LOVES these books!   June 23, 2008
My daughter has read all of the first two series already and couldn't wait to get her hands on these two newest releases (we also purchased book 3 in hardcover). We are anxiously awaiting the next one, as she will probably fly right through these. Although they are not for the weak at heart due to the fights the clans have, We find these books interesting enough to hold the attention of even the most reluctant readers.
