Product Description
Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place.

4 out of 5 stars Hunger Games   November 16, 2008
Book Came in great condition. The slip cover was impeccable. Delivery was normal for Amazon, and the book was great. It starts slow but it sure does build up and then its nearly impossible to put down. Apparently it is the first book of three I believe, so we have a while to wait to see what happens next! Stephenie Meyer is a big fan of this book and thats how I heard about it. She is a fan for a reason. Suzanne Collins is a great writer.

3 out of 5 stars Nice Bouquet, Terrible Aftertaste   November 16, 2008
This is one of my least favorite trends in science fiction/fantasy literature. The book is entirely compelling, then instead of an ending, it has "End of Book One." $%&#! I wanted to read a whole story, not the first episode of another franchise. It's dishonest and mercenary, and makes all the fun I had reading the thing curdle in my memory. It's tainted. It's Crystal-Skulled. What a shame.

4 out of 5 stars great book   November 16, 2008
i really like this book, the concept and stuff, but i was totally dissappointed at the end, even though it leads you into the next book, which comes out next year, looooong way, i really dont like cliff hangers :/

5 out of 5 stars Awesome!   November 15, 2008
Loved this book and couldn't put it down. Everyone in the family can enjoy it. My husband and I loved it and even my 12 yr old. Thanks Stephenie Meyer for recommending one of your favorite books! Can't wait to read more from this author!

5 out of 5 stars The Hunger Games   November 14, 2008
The book The Hunger Games was by far the greatest book i have ever read! I started out only looking for a book to read for a fantasy book report and well not being much of a reader didn't mind much what I read. After reading th first 14 pages the first night, I was amazed at how the book kept me going! This book shows how Katniss, a girl from district twelve, which is the coaling district is sent to the Hunger Games in the city called the Capital. There were once 13 districts seprated by forests with beasts and monsters in them. But after the attempted rebellion failed. District 13 was obliterated and the Hunger Games were a way to show the districts that they had complete power. Katniss's fater was a coal miner who tought her to use a bow and arrow for hunting which helped tremedisly in the arena. Her father died in a mine explotion and then Katniss is forced to take care of the family by hunting illigally outside of the fence and one day she meets gale when she saw a rabit in a snare who was a great big help to Katniss. But befor the hunting started Katniss was starving a boy from school named Peete through her some bread and se soon finds out that they will both be going to the Hunger Games knowing that only one can servive in this book of suspence, fights and sadness. This book is highly recomended!
