4 out of 5 stars It's Okay for a Text book   October 13, 2008
The cover is pretty. The book is theory based and pretty clear cut. No surprises, just the basics.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent textbook for advanced psychology students   February 8, 2008
I needed to purchase this book as a textbook for a master's level psychology course. The book is well written, informative and covers many different types of family systems therapies. I intend to keep this on my professional bookshelf for future use.

3 out of 5 stars Family Therapy   December 30, 2007
Good overview of theories, not very in depth though....great overall. I enjoyed it as an introductory book.

4 out of 5 stars Basic Counseling Textbook   October 28, 2007
This is a textbook for a graduate class in psychology. If you need to buy it as a textbook, then of course, you must buy it. The chapters are arranged in an order that explains the history of family therapy and the basics. It is a general textbook. You will need other books to get into psychotherapy in a deeper way. However, as an introductory text, this is easy reading. It is called an "overview" because that is exactly what it is.
My greatest advice for you is to not forget to use the website as a help to the book. The website backup materials will guarantee you to have a great grade in the course.
