 Not really useful as flashcards and confusing August 8, 2008
I had someone quiz me and got the first question wrong. Then the questioner looked confused as he read over the actual answer. The question asked when something occurs, and the answer stated the situations in which it doesn't occur. This happened quite often throughout the set.
Although both question and answer usually relate to the same topic AND you should know what is on the back of the cards, it is not conducive towards "flashing". Many times, I had to flip the card just to figure out what was being asked. The cards are also thin, stick to each other, and slip off to the side quite easily.
The information on these cards IS useful, but should be in a book format, not card format. [...]

The cards are ok, but, as some have already mentioned, there is just too much information on the back of each card. They don't work well as a quick study option.

These flashcards have not been updated and use obsolete language in the questions. The answers are not very helpful either, as they are too long, cumbersome - nothing that really helps with quick memorization and retention. You are better off with Law in a Flash, I think. I was expecting a lot better product.

They're billed as "MBE Review Flashcards" and "500 color coded practice questions." Let's start with why that's wrong:
- They have Civ Pro and Corporations questions. Neither subject is technically on the MBE.
- They're not really practice questions. Example: "Describe the FRE rule pertaining to offers of compromise." That's not even a question and it's not likely you'll get something like that on the MBE. Where's the fact scenario? Where are the parties?
- They're not flashcards as I usually think of them. First off, they're freakin' HUGE. I want the ability to stuff a stack in my pocket for the road and these are just too big. Second, they're flimsy as heck. Cards are supposed to be a little stiffer. Third (and I realize I'm nitpicking here), the text is printed the same direction on both sides. So when you flip them the text is upside down.
That being said, they do include useful information. Sure, you probably won't get the "Describe the FRE on compromise" from above... but you may very well get a question that requires that you know this. The essay portion will almost certainly include Civ Pro and Corporations so that information will be useful as well. So there is some value here. It's just not the cards with 500 practice MBE questions I anticipated.

The MBE Review Flashcards are an excellent supplement to Barbri or another bar review course. Going through the comprehensive outlines can become tedious and cause lost focus. The flashcards help maintain focus and also exercise different mental skills. True, there is a lot of information on these cards, but it's not necessary to recite all of the information during each trip through the set. All of the cards begin with the black letter law, which is really all you need to know, and then they provide examples and exam tips if further explanation is needed. The set includes all MBE topics plus Civil Procedure and Corporations (both of which are tested on the state-specific portion of the bar exam). This set is not a replacement for a good, comprehensive outline from Barbri or PMBR, but it's an effective supplement for learning the black letter law in a way that is more interactive than an outline.
