Lots and lots of good info November 22, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Really good book for learning about the subject. I have noticed since that this book is used as a reference in a number of articles and other books, so it is respected by other professionals too. What I like is that it gives examples-I have to have examples.
THE supervision text July 22, 2006 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
It is easy to see why Fundamentals of Clinical Supervision is so frequently referred to as THE supervision text. Bernard and Goodyear successfully synthesize a vast (and growing) amount of multidisciplinary supervision literature into a single comprehensive source. The book is well written, and organized such that it makes for easy referencing. Each of the 12 chapters presents an in-depth examination of both seminal and contemporary writing related to clinical supervision. While the `Supervisor's toolbox' serves as a welcome resource for graduate students and new supervisors, the thorough presentation of the most up-to-date theoretical and empirical work informs seasoned supervisors and educators alike.
Common Sense, but Solid Base March 23, 2006 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book was okay. It seemed like a lot of common sense but also seemed like a good book for begining supervisors.
Good review of literature & studies on clinical supervision August 23, 1998 21 out of 26 found this review helpful
Excellent resource for developing a clinical supervision training program. Provides a good review of literature & studies dealing with clinical supervision. The two day curriculum is helpful but uses too much video & doesn't tell you where to get a video to use in the training. Gives good basics to what is important in Clinical Supervision; chapter on ethics & legal issues whas somewhat unclear, but very important. Great appendix section. I was surprised that Dr. Larry Shulman wasn't referenced more. Overrall - great resource to have if you are doing clinical supervision.
