excellent clinical resource February 23, 2002 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Drs. Gil & Johnson do an extraordinary job of presenting the complex dynamics that interplay in the development of children in families whose primary dysfunction is sexualized in nature. Developmental norms are provided, too, in order to distinguish expected behaviors from those which are unusual. The authors are quite capable of tieing together theory with case material, and then providing meaningful assessment and treatment information, not only for individuals but for groups and families as well. This book is a must-buy for all mental health professionals, and is sometimes difficult to find, so BUY IT.
Sexualized Children January 28, 2000 8 out of 20 found this review helpful
I thought this book was a bit too technical for typical parents. It also leaned more towards the fact that these children where sexually abused themselves which isn't always the case. It leaned more towards problematic families in general. This book has more of a one sided point of view then I expected.
