Book Description What do we do in the silence of God? When many people today seem to be receiving daily messages directly from God, what do you do when your prayers seem to bounce back from the ceiling? How can you get on with the abundant life when there seems to be an abundance of silence? It's in this awesome quiet that we "trouble deaf heaven and shroud our souls in shame." But the glorious truth is that God is seldom if ever silent. "He is the Divine Talker-although He does find delight in dramatic pauses. In the apparent silence of God, know He is speaking volumes." Jeannette Cliff George helps us learn to listen to God with some practical advice on removing those things from our lives that clutter and distract and to remind us to remain quiet enough to hear not only His shouts but also and more importantly, His whispers.

God delights in dramatic pauses January 28, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Troubling Deaf Heaven sings to readers' hearts! The elegant and lyrical writing lends sweetness to these pages, while the author's insights bring renewed hope.
Believers are often baffled by what they perceive as the silence of God. Yet, this book provides a different look at the intimate communication between people and the Almighty. In a sensitive sweep of this subject, Jeannette Clift George explores the many facets of prayer, as she points out obstacles and presents new ways of listening. Both seasoned believers and new Christians will be blessed by this book, as it leads them ever closer to the Father's heart.
The scriptural principles are sound, and the flow of words is delightful! The author has interspersed her insights with memos, stories, and some poem-phrased thoughts. The result is a book of beauty! It was titled after a Shakespearean sonnet, and it certainly lives up to its namesake.
There is a very personal appeal in these pages, as the author shares the thoughts on her heart. She gently, yet firmly, encourages readers to continue in communication with God despite a lack of apparent answers. Her possible explanations for His silence give Him glory while giving believers hope. She believes that God delights in dramatic pauses, which highlights His perfect timing in all things. Her words will inspire readers to listen and to be aware of His gentle whisper in our very busy lives.
Her advice is practical and her purpose is apparent. Reading this book promotes a renewed respect for the Almighty and a rekindled desire to hear Him speak! -- Joyce Handzo, Christian Book Previews.com
