A comprehensive, annual guide for practicing nurses and nursing students, 2009 Lippincott's Nursing Drug Guide provides quick A-to-Z access to current, vital drug information. The book has complete monographs on about 800 common drugs and summaries of key information on about 350 less commonly used drugs in the appendices. Complete monographs contain generic and trade names; pronunciations; pregnancy risk category; controlled substance schedule (if appropriate); drug classes; therapeutic actions; indications; contraindications and cautions; available forms; dosages; pharmacokinetics; IV facts (if appropriate); adverse effects; interactions; and nursing considerations, including assessment, interventions, and teaching points. The book also has a 32-page full-color photoguide to pills and capsules for easy reference and 25 appendices that summarize key clinical information. A companion Website offers 200 drug monographs and patient-teaching aids. A Canadian version of the book is endorsed by the Canadian Nursing Students' Association.
