Product Description Billy Joel? Craig Claiborne? Susan Lucci? Melissa Errico? Mort Kunstler? The Roosevelt Family? Oleg Cassini? Nelson Doubleday? The Phipps Family? The Chocolate Chef Lazars? Representative Carolyn McCarthy? Snapple? Wang? What do these individuals, companies and families have in common? Legendary Long Islanders by Helene Herzig is a compilation of sensitive interviews with a group of highly fascinating subjects--from media stars to artists to a Nobel prize winner to politicians and entrepreneurs. These interviews were published over a 20-year period in the famous North Shore Magazine focusing on the residents and celebrities living on the Gold Coast of Long Island.
This book is well-written and has been endorsed by the Tom Suozzi, Executive of Nassau County, New York as well as many others interviewed. An added feature is a current update on each interview.

Wonderful, Worthwhile, Well-Written and other Superlative Compliments August 21, 2008 Legendary Long Islanders succeeds no matter who the reader is. Far from being stuck in any corner of Long Island culture, Helene Herzig (the author) elucidates a stunning portrait of Long Island through the stories of locals whose influence often extends well beyond their own place and time.
The writing is as crisp and entertaining as the stories. You are gauranteed to come away with a newfound respect both for Long Island and the individuals that Herzig profiles.
I recommend this book to absolutely anyone either for personal enjoyment or as a gift. It is nothing short of exceptional.
