3 out of 5 stars average sign language book   February 14, 2008
I own many sign language books/dictionaries. I have to say that this one gets a lot of shelf time. I do not like the format. Most dictionaries are alphabetical order. This dictionary is inconveniently grouped in sections.
Things that I do like about the dictionary is that it does give a nice explaination of what your hands are doing, usage (puts the word in a sentence) and many times origin of the sign.
If you were only to get one dictionary this is not the one(I would prefer the American Sign Language Dictionary if only purchasing one), but if you would like a nice reference book to add to your collection this is a fine one.

This book is used by people who teach sign language and that is how we came to find out about it and why we purchased it. Graphic and easy to follow.

Anyone involved in or interested in sign language, I highly recommend you purchase this book. I am involved in a sign team at our church & this book has been very helpful in looking up signs to our songs. It is a GREAT learning tool!

It would be better to have more signs for individual concrete items and less abstract stuff for my use. (I am teaching an autistic child to sign.)
