good book, poor writing June 30, 2008 This is a great book to help prepare for childbirth, but it's not written by a scholar. Easy reading and many great referrences for the average reader. One of the better books about natural childrbirth out there!
child birth May 16, 2008 Great book for tips on how to be prepared for childbirth, how to relax and how to get your partner to be a helpful participant in the birth. This book gave me lots of great tools to use for my birth plan.
Natural Childbirth Essential May 9, 2008 This book serves as a instructional manual to expecting parents planning for natural childbirth. We used this book in conjunction with Bradley Childbirth Classes, which I strongly reccomend. This is the information every mom should know before delivery but will likely never learn without this book. Don't let "husband coached" scare you away either. This is for every alternative family as well. Great read with wonderful insight.
WHY does natural childbirth work? February 13, 2008 I read this book several years ago when expecting my first child. I really wanted a natural childbirth. This book is not just a "How-To" with recommendations and exercises, although it has that too. Dr. Bradley actually explains how he developed his method, the theories behind it, and why it works. If you are unsure if natural childbirth is for you, or if you are not convinced of the benefits, this book is great. It is not a quick read, and is not really set up as a reference book--you should read it start to finish. I gave it four stars only because it is a bit harder to read than other childbirth books. That being said, I would give it five stars for content. The perfect companion to this book is Susan McKutcheon's "Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way," which definitely IS a practical "How-To," with lots of recommendations on techniques, plus photos, drawings, diagrams, practice sessions, and more. If you are not able to attend Bradley classes, these two books will be invaluable for the couple wanting natural (unmedicated) birth. If you are taking Bradley classes, these books will still be helpful (and recommended by your instructor anyway).
very boring and drawn out book, however the method is great January 24, 2008 the method and thought behind this is great however the book is sooooo difficult to read. it's lengthy and just wordy.
