Product Description
Dr. Ronald P. Grelsamer gives readers all the information they need to decide whether hip or knee replacement is the right choice. From the history and evolution of joint implants to the significant differences between types of implants and surgeries, he arms readers with the need-to-know facts for lasting recovery from surgery in the shortest time possible. Dr. Grelsamer also examines the risks and limitations, informing readers under which conditions surgery would actually be more damaging than beneficial. This complete guide addresses every area of concern that a patient may have and enables them to take control, ask the right questions, and live joint-pain free!

2 out of 5 stars Helpful, but a little cynical   May 26, 2008

Small book that is easy to read, but somewhat out of date (as another reviewer noted, no info about some of the newer options like hip resurfacing). Read the excerpts here; e.g., first few pages are a little bit cynical, but guess that goes with the title.

4 out of 5 stars good book   February 24, 2008
very good advice , highly recommend, somewhat skeptical of medical field with good suggestions of how to avoid problems by asking the right questions(I'm in the medical field and agree with his views) john

Unfortunately, this book does not go into any detail that you can't easily find on the web. It's out of date; no coverage of the new hip resurfacing techniques.

4 out of 5 stars request for information   March 8, 2007
I haven't received this book yet, and would be grateful if you could help me find out what happened to my order!!

It's always good to know how to avoid surgery if you can. I need knee replacements so this was especially interesting to me. Good information.
