Convenient Source Of DHA... August 31, 2008 I held off on trying these until I could give them a real test: a 13-hour road trip with limited opportunities for eating breaks! And the bars worked very well indeed; small enough to fit in a shirt pocket without being distracting, they can easily be grabbed without taking your eyes off the road. Quality dark chocolate, too. Some of the nutritional values will probably give you pause, but in a situation like the one I had, they may be just the thing!
Great product! August 30, 2008 I must say that Kelloggs Live Bright Dark Chocolate Vanilla Bars were a pleasant surprise! Great tasting and not filling, I ate my during lunch and it was satisfying to know that they contained many of the essential minerals and food allowances I need. Highly recommend.
Quick Grab Breakfast Bar That Taste Good August 29, 2008 This product is advertised to improve your mental acuity and whether it does are not I can't say. I didn't notice an improvement but I believe it would take some time to really tell. I would say that if your goal is something for your mental capacity or acuity some other vitamins and herbs in pill form may be more effective since you could control the dose and the combination of ingredients. I can say this breakfast bar is tasty. It is chewy like a brownie with a rich chocolate taste. Maybe after eating them consistently over a period of time you will feel sharper too!
Delicious? Most definitely! Good for you? Well that I'm not so sure about. August 28, 2008 Delicious? Most definitely! Good for you? Well that I'm not so sure about.
I thought this new product from Kellogg's sounded appealing enough to give them a try. I was doubtful that I'd notice any impact on my brain functions but was willing to try them with an open mind. Well I tried them and did not notice any significant effects on me.
I actually tried both flavors, the Dark Chocolate Vanilla and the Double Chocolate. Since the only difference between them is flavor, I know it's cheating, but I'm using the same review for both with only the part about flavor changing.
The Kellogg's Live Bright Bars are surprisingly tasty. They vanilla coating on the dark chocolate vanilla bars is smooth with a strong flavor of vanilla though it does not overpower the senses. The center of the bar is soft and chewy with a good strong dark chocolate flavor. The combination of vanilla and dark chocolate provides a nice balance so the bar isn't sickeningly sweet. These bars taste far more like a candy bar than any kind of health bar.
The primary selling point Kellogg's is using to market the Live Bright Bars is the high content of DHA Omega-3, a nutrient normally found in fish oil that has been proven to aid brain health. As such, I expected to notice some difference in alertness or memory as a result. I ate a bar a day for several days but did not feel any difference from eating them. Also, while these bars are high in Omega-3 oil, they are also quite high in sugar.
After trying the Kellogg's Live Bright Bars, I cannot say as I'd recommend them for healthy purposes. However, as a replacement for the normal candy bar, I can see eating these bars instead. I would not add them to your regular diet in the hopes of seeing positive effects but they are good for a once in a while delicious treat.

not as bad as I expected August 28, 2008 I really don't like health bars. They all seem to have this weird "off" taste that I just can't get past. I can take a few bites but that's about it. These Live Bright bars by Kellogg surprised me. Now, I don't think they're meant to be protein bars so that protein taste wasn't there at all. They were quite yummy. I read a lot about DHA after trying one of the bars and although there is conflicting information about it, it does look like there is some promise in the health benefits some are claiming. Anyway, my son tried these too and enjoyed them. It was a great snack for him and a better choice than a lot of the kid snack options available.
So as far as taste: not horrible at all! In fact, pretty good. As far as nutrition: I'm not a dietitian so I can't address it with any certainty. I would recommend doing some research first if it concerns you.
