Pleasant Surprise December 1, 2008 I have been using a Norelco Quadra electric shaver for about seven years. I waqs reluctant to try a differnet head type, but after talking to customer service at Norelco and reading the reiews on Amazon, I ordered the 8240XL Speed. What a pleasant surprise. The very first shave was great. The shaver is amazingly quiet. Although at first appearance one might think the quality was not as good as my old Quadra, shaving was a pleasure and quality is not an issue. It is also a great to see that the shaver is still made in Holland.
Better than the fancy one! November 23, 2008 I tried the super fancy Phillips Norelco arcitec model and was very disappointed. It looked cool but just didn't work well and wasn't comfortable. This one works great! Wish they could combine space age looks with functionality.
Norelco Shave System November 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The razor is compact, quiet during operation as compared to other razors used and quite durable. I dropped it removing the charger (fell about 4 ft) and nothing broke or came loose and it's still working fine. It charges in less than 2 hours and has a compact carry case if you need to travel. The razor provides a close, clean shave. After using a couple of weeks a slight rash appeared but easily cleared up and there have been no further problems so I don't think it was the razor that caused the problem. Overall, it's a great razor.
Worth the money November 17, 2008 I was a razor guy mostly because I didn't want to sink $100 into this but after 2 weeks of ownership, I'm happy I finally did. The convenient of shaving dry is totally worth it. I can't compare this device to other electric shavers but compared to a razor it doesn't cut as close and can be more irritating on your skin but I'm getting used to it and am so far happy with this device and my purchase. If you're considering leaving your razor, I say go for it.
norelco shaver November 17, 2008 Have been using various Norelco shavers for the past thirty years. Recently had to replace my shaver, and unfortunately tried another top brand. After two months of bad results I purchased another Norelco and have been extremely satisfied, especially on the neck area.
