Comments: Stated first edition. Journal kept by Helen Keller during the two years following the death of her long-time teacher and companion, Anne Sullivan Macy. The journal describes Keller's loss and adaptation to life without Macy, and shows her coming into her own as a fully independent woman. Maroon cloth lettered in gilt, 313 pages, dustjacket. Light shelfwear and a bit of dustiness to the covers, good hinges, sound text block, light age-toning and a bit of foxing to the endpapers, pages clean and free from names or other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is not priceclipped and has a significantly faded spine, some foxing to the light colored rear panel, edgewear including numerous small chips and tears, but less than about two percent paper loss overall.
